UFO CULTURE
A wholly unique culture grew up around the ‘flying saucer craze’ following the Roswell incident of 1947. By the early 1950s, as sightings increased, the UFO cultural revolution was at full tilt, and kids loved it. From movies, books and magazines to toys, lunch boxes and board games, a new industry was born.

By the late 1950s, the UFO culture was mainstream. The press, especially newspapers, covered UFO sightings on front pages across the country.

Serious UFO investigators and researchers blame the UFO/ET culture nuttiness for casting the phenomenon as frivilous and therefore from gaining more credibility among the citizenry and institutions for decades.
